The most recent news that I have is;  No date certain yet.  Place will probably be Camp Whitsett, but with the fire in that area...

The boyscout camp looks awesome! I can't wait!  Hope it is not affected by the fires.  Everyone here cannot wait until the next Doins.  We will stay vigilant to the post, and await instructions.

Speaking of fires.

Has anyone spoken to Dale?  I tried to  call him on both his home line and cell and all I got was his voice mail.

Hey at least we know his home answering machine hasn't melted.

Please post if you have any information.

July 31 2010

Talked to Tim and Dale today. Tim is waiting for Dale to give him the information about the camp. Dale said that he is waiting for a return call from the one that is in charge of the camp but with some of the power lines down and poor reception with cell phones he is having a bit of communication problems. Will let you know if I hear any thing more.Dale will try again Monday.

I just wanted to expand a little on the clog with regard to future Clampsites in Platrix territory. Another site I found is also a Boy Scout camp ( Camp Willet ) just 5 or so miles from the coast up Sulpher Mountain rd. Great view of Lake Casitas and beyond, holds hundreds of people, very resonable fee, a nearby plaqueing location related to the camp. All in all, a very attractive site. The problem, you ask? I was told there is no way a Motor home or 5th wheel can make it up the hill because of a sharp switchback about half way up. That being said, they are in negotiation with a rancher to improve another road from the east a few miles  away to allow larger vehichles. So maybe next year or beyond. I'll tell ya more about it this fall. Tons of history concerning the Willet family.

I was excited about that when you first mailed me about it. Willett won't work because of the turn, the university site is too small, I might still hear from Ira Stone, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Whitsett. I think maybe next we'll look at the Platrix Humbug's front yard.

Hooplah Hooplah and, not to put too fine a point on it, Huzzah !!  Spring Doins' is finally arranged for October 15,16 and 17. Camp Whitsett will be the place. It should be great weather, cool at night for fires and not too warm during the day. Details will follow as they become available. Stay tuned, kiddies.

Are we going to have a pre-doins meeting to discuss plans, next year's officers, etc?  If so, I need details for Peter's Procs ASAP.
